Hey, there! Welcome to Bottoms Up Events blog!

This will serve as an event/party information board and reviewer. We will be advertising upcoming events as well as reviewing how the events themselves turned out. We’ll be detailing things like who organized the event, where it was held, when it was held, if it was themed or not, if there were any sponsors, the general sense of the event considering the DJ, taste of music, approximated numbers of people in attendance, price of the tickets, price, quality, and range of the food and/or drinks available, and other things such as ease of finding parking space. We will also be including a photo corner where pictures captured from the event by us or some of our friends will be uploaded.

Feel free to look around and enjoy this blog. Come back often, too! And don’t forget to tell your friends about it!

Game Over

Game Over was the Ateneo 2012 Student Resident's party. It was held at Ford, Global City.

The party brought in the heat to all those who came. There was a lot of people most of them residing at the University dorm. But there were also those who came which were from school and even those from another country (Koreans not studying in school). It was a good mix of students and most of them got along very well. This made the atmosphere a very unique social-party event, where everyone were friends with everyone else. There was no shortage in drinks, which kept the party going well into the night. There was a booth for mixed drinks besides sober club and shots by 'the bar'. Although sober club ran out of drinks, the other booths had no such shortage.

To keep thing even more interesting the dormers had games like beer bongs and mouth drinks for 15 seconds. They also had water guns which shot beer shots into people's mouths. It was such a crazy event, crazy in a good sense.
These crazy ideas and unlimited drinks brought about a lot of people. The place was large enough to hold the amount of people for the event. although the air conditions had a very difficult time cooling all the heat that was going around. It was very hot. People were perspiring like there was no tomorrow.

Nevertheless, the party had a very accommodating feel because everyone knew each other. The games kept the party really fun and the drinks was definitely not a problem.  Ultimately, despite the heat it was an awesome event and best regards to all those who made this eventful event awesome!

THIS IS IT: A Bottoms Up Review

The Ateneo Junior Marketing Association (AJMA) held its first general assembly last July 16 at the MVP roof deck. The GA was basically to allow the members to sign up for the projects they want to be a part of in the coming year. It was hosted by Dollhouse members Mico Suba, Third Fernandez, and Jebby Fronda. The three made sure their audience was pretty well entertained. The event was sponsored by Tagaytay Highlands, KFC Krushers, The Body Shop, Freeform, and Lucky Circle. Most noticeable was KFC Krushers, people were lining up for free tastes of their product. This event was not themed.

For the Ateneo’s organization with the largest population, boasting of 1,400 members, the turnout at the event and the event itself was a little disappointing. Only around 500 members attended the GA and aside from a performance by the AJMA Dance Troupe, nothing else from the program really captured the attention of the people there.

Super Klasse: A Bottoms Up Review

As much as we want to be kind and give high praises to all events, sometimes there are really just ones which suck. And this is one of them. The venue was set in Encore, The Fort at ten pm last Wednesday July 21. Arriving at the club by 11:30 in the evening and expecting crowds from the different universities that were mentioned got us all hyped. However, once we searched for our names on the guest list, which by the way took them 10 minutes just to locate our names, we were able to come up to the second floor. The feel of the music was pretty nice and the bass could be felt on the floor. Entering the main room was in all honesty disappointing. There were no people inside. Well, there were but they were foreigners who do not have any clue what UAAP is even about. The dance floor was completely empty and even the couches, and the bar was totally empty. Although the bar tender that night was a chick and she was dang hot... but still, the party was a complete flop! Since there was no one to actually mingle with, we talked to the bouncers and interviewed them if this just occurred now and they said no.

Lesson of the day: NEVER GO TO A PARTY ON A WEEKDAY. NEVER. EVER. WEEKDAY.

If we will rate this party, we give it a 2 out of 10. Just because it was air-conditioned and they had a hot bartender.

Proof of such disappointment will follow soon after.

Study hard, Party Harder! Cheers!

MODIFY: A Bottoms Up Review

The Junior Philippine Economics Society (JPES) organized Modify, a car show, last July 3. It was a fund-raising event to fund more projects for the Economics students and was held at the Grove by Rockwell in Libis. It was pretty well promoted, the organizers made use of tarps, streamers, online promo mats, and radio plugs on Magic, Wave, and 99.5. They even made use of their speedster bus at one point to rake the people in. The event was sponsored by various companies such as PLDT’s myDSL, the Bar, and ETC. The party was themed around the checkered flag usually linked to racing, so guests had to come in either black and/or white attire. It was a pretty lively event although the venue was not that accessible to people who didn’t want to bring a car or did not know how to get there. However, the Grove by Rockwell did have an upside to it, too, as it hasn’t been overused by the party scene yet. Lighting in the car show was a little problematic as they relied solely on the venue’s lamp posts making it hard to fully appreciate the cars on display but the lights used in the party itself were all right. Similarly, in terms of music, they kind of fell short in the car show portion of the night since they didn’t make use of any, actually as it seemed like they focused so much on the cars but the choice of music during the party was great.
